Mount Spurr, a stratovolcano in the Aleutian Arc of Alaska, shows signs of activity, and experts believe there is a likelihood that it’ll erupt. On Wednesday, March 12th, the Alaska Volcano Observatory measured significantly elevated gas emissions from the volcano. The observatory cautions that an eruption could occur in the next weeks or months ahead, but it may erupt with little to no warning. Mount Spurr has two main vents. The summit vent last erupted more than 5,000 years ago, while the Crater Peak Vent last erupted in 1992. While eruptions can create panic, do not worry. More research will be conducted to be able to further clarify whether it will erupt or not.
