Having Fridays off with four-day school weeks would have numerous benefits for not only students and their families but also teachers. Four-day weeks would allow students an extra day to catch up on everything and stay on top of their work. Students would be more likely to feel motivated and energized that way. It would also allow students to be academically successful and potentially improve their mental health or well-being. This extra day would allow everyone to recharge and prepare for the next week. Doing so would make it less likely for students to feel burnt out or overworked, which would be extremely beneficial in the long run when their grades come back and they need to apply for college.
Teachers would also benefit from a shorter work week by allowing them more time for lesson planning and grading. With an extra day to focus on their well-being, teachers could return to the classroom more prepared and ready for the week. So, overall, a four-day school week would be beneficial to not only students, but educators as well.
