Do you have a best friend? You might not know this, but your best friend may be the key to surviving high school. Research shows that having friends makes the high school experience much more manageable. A writer from Gallup states that it “gives students a reason to show up, helps them enjoy their days, and encourages a range of positive behaviors”. Friends are a positive reinforcement that is much needed in high school. A writer from CUREUS also states “Friendships can positively impact students’ academic performance and grade point average (GPA) by providing emotional support and reducing stress, thereby leading to improved focus and better concentration on studies”. Navigating high school can be difficult, so having a friend by your side can make a significant difference. Overall, having friends in high school greatly enhances the overall experience.

Tobi Larrabee, Online Editor
Tobi Larrabee: The Hello Kitty-obsessed teen who works on The Tiger Times staff as one of our online editors. Tobi has been a part of the newspaper staff for two years. She’s also been in Thespians and Yearbook for three years. If you can’t find her working late night shifts at Walmart or at a home football game painting all sorts of faces, she’s most likely playing Roblox’s Dress to Impress, drawing outfit ideas for events such as the Renaissance Faire, or taking care of her cousin, Poe. Tobi joined The Tiger Times because they like to write stories, as well as layout page designs similar to those of a yearbook spread. She hopes to bring the newspaper back to its former glory.
