The Fort Scott High School Math Club kicked off this year’s season with the first of five MSSU competitions on Oct. 1. The results will not be tallied until the spring when an award ceremony will be held for the highest cumulative scores. However, in between these competitions, the club attends several other events. On Oct. 16, the club spent the day completing tests on Algebra, Geometry, and a random combination of multiple subjects at Emporia State University. For the first time in the history of the competition, Fort Scott was allowed to compete against only other 4A and 3A schools. With an increased chance of success, the Math Club brought home its first medal of the year: a silver medal in the individual geometry test.

Sypher Cannon, Copy Editor
Sypher Fay Cannon, the OG nerd, is the copy editor in this year's The Tiger Times Staff. The state Orchestra Ensemble attendee is not fully using their abilities in the Scholars Bowl, Math Club, Theatre, and Orchestra. They spend their weekends and free time working at Cohn’s as a host, reading, and “sleeping tbh”. Something they are proud of is that in their first year of High School, they went to state as the only bassist. They joined The Tiger Times so they could have a class to do some creative writing. We are happy to have them in this class.
