AI is becoming a major part of high school life, helping students complete assignments faster and more easily. Although AI can make assignments easier, many students are starting to rely on it instead of thinking for themselves. Instead of working through problems or writing essays independently, students simply enter a prompt into AI, and it does much of the work for them.
While this saves time, it can weaken critical thinking, attention spans, and writing skills. Over time, students may lose some of their ability to solve problems on their own or clearly express their ideas.
AI also has environmental impacts that are often overlooked. The systems that power AI rely on large data centers, which use massive amounts of energy and water to operate and stay cool. As more students and schools rely on AI tools every day, the demand for these resources continues to increase. This contributes to higher energy consumption and greater pressure on local water supplies.
