At the end of the year, it’s easy to feel unmotivated and start slacking because summer is almost here, and all you can think about are the exciting things coming up. But stay locked in, it will be worth it!
Instead of viewing this time of year as a time to slow down, view it as a countdown and a chance to get everything in order before final grades are submitted. Pushing through work even when you don’t feel like it is a skill that matters beyond school; it can help you build healthy habits throughout life. In the future, it can hurt you if you have a lot on your plate and decide to give up simply because you don’t feel motivated. Don’t skip assignments just because you don’t feel like doing them in the moment, a little extra free time usually isn’t worth the stress later on.
As a high schooler, I completely understand what it’s like to get closer to summer and want to take it easy and have fun. However, it feels much more rewarding to start summer break knowing everything is turned in and your grades reflect your best effort. Knowing that you truly did your best feels good. Having a set plan and practicing good time management helps me feel less overwhelmed and more confident when getting work done.
So, if you’re feeling stuck or unmotivated, use some of this as encouragement to finish the year on a strong note.
